Weekly Roundup

The Real Jessica Rabbit....Vikki Dougan This is an interesting article that indirectly talks about the importance of dress and the ability of a designer to change how the world perceives you. If you don't know who Jessica Rabbit is, well I suggest you find out soon!

Back to Business

So I'm in the process of re-organizing my business, so I've been adding more business development workshops and events to my schedule, as well as re-working my business plan. Last week I headed to St. Joe's Prep for the African American Business to Business Event hosted by the Office of Councilman At-Large, David Oh.

Panelists: Doing Business With the Government

Panelists: Michael Pearson, William Wilson and Chet Riddick

 I also was able to reconnect with Erin from the Wharton SBDC as well as meet new people and learn about new resources in Philly. Plus I had an "Ah-ha" moment regarding my Etsy shop, so stay tuned!

P.S. If you're working on starting or growing your own business, check out the Business tab on the website for events and resources.

Heaven = Cakes + Champagne

There is one thing I love as much as fashion....food, and more specifically desserts, so when I received this invite in my email about the Whipped Bakeshop cake collection, I just simply had to squeeze it in.

Well I certainly wasn't disappointed.

This is what greeted me when I arrived in Saks, and then I went inside and there were samples of fudge, macarons, and eventcupcakes and trust me they are certainly as tasty as they look.

 My favorite part of the event was the look book. That's right look book. I've never seen one created for a bakery. This one is available both online and in-print, and every photo just keeps making me glad that I go to the gym...so that I can eat desserts and not gain weight. Now all I need is an excuse event to order a cake!

Champagne and Wool, What a Great Combination.

Last week I headed to SuitSupply on Locust Street to view the Fall Weather Collection. They opened their store here in Philly back in May 2013. There's something about this store that always excites me, perhaps it's the sewing station in the front of the store, or the life-like mannikins, but I think I am always amazed by the selection and range of men's clothing. From the blue velvet jacket in the formal attire salon to the multiple shades of blue suits, this store has everything! Plus I heard that if you buy a suit from their Signature Red line, on September 20th,  you will also receive a complimentary dress shirt...Win, Win!

A Break From the Norm

As a "city girl" I have had my fair share of heckling, by men who have found me attractive. Sometimes Most of the time it's annoying, but sometimes the comments make me smile and even worse, cringe in disgust. Artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh has decided to do something about it with her "Stop Telling Women to Smile" campaign.

This visual protest has turned into posters and tshirts that you can wear to spread the message that yes this is a form of sexual harassment, and it is unacceptable.
