JRochelle Geter is a fashion designer, stylist and fiber
artist. Born and raised in Philadelphia,
she first started sewing at the age of seven. After that she explored other art
mediums at the Baldwin School,
such as jewelry making, architecture and painting. She then designed theater costumes
for her alma mater, Haverford College,
before attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In the SAIC
Fashion Department chaired by Nick Cave, JRochelle Geter
studied under renowned costume designer Bambi
Breakstone, and established designers Anke
Loh, Kristina Sparks, and Katrin
Schnabl. Since late 2008, she has
designed under the moniker J.Rochelle
Designs to create garments and sculptural pieces with character and
personality through design, draping and embellishment. JRochelle has traveled
and studied in Paris,
Antwerp
and Italy,
among other places, which has greatly influenced her work. Her primary focus is
women’s clothing and accessories, but is also experienced
in making headpieces, menswear and children’s clothing. In 2012, her work was
displayed at Fiber Philadelphia 2012; she created costumes for the SCUBA
performances of Gabrielle Revlock and produced a fashion show for her leather accessories. JRochelle is currently working on custom gowns, working on her 2013 leather collection and blogging. JRochelle is also available
for fashion styling for personal and professional appearances.
